West, L. & Staub, F. (2003). Content-focused coaching: Transforming mathematics lessons. Portsmouth, ME: Heinemann.

Author: West, L & Staub, F.

While West & Staub's book and accompanying CDs with video clips is about teaching math, the book is well worth reading as a literacy person. The focus is on doing in-classroom coaching. West and Staub offer suggestions as to techniques that coaches can use to go deeper with teachers concerning the content of lessons. Work with three teachers is reviewed in the book and can then be watched: a new teacher, an experienced teacher, and a teacher leader. There is also a chapter devoted to principals and one to district leaders. Both offer very helpful advice.
