Description:
In this book Toll expands beyond the basics that she covered in her first book. The book contains several charts that are helpful. Toll offers insights into how to handle particular problems that coaches can encounter: disagreements, varying level of participation, competing claims, and intimidation. Enlightening in this book are the examples of transcribed coaching sessions. Toll also addresses coaches' participation in school improvement processes and evaluation of the effectiveness of coaching. Finally, she addresses connections between coaching duties and small-group instruction with students for coaches who must fulfill dual roles as both a reading specialist and a literacy coach.
