In this article, the author is the policy director for the Bay Area School Reform Collaborative (BASRC) and discusses different ideas for how to come up with funding for literacy coaches. School districts and school leaders must commit to making coaching a priority and be willing to invest the money and possibly take money from areas that are not necessary or as important as coaching. The article focuses on three different school districts in California and their successes in implementing literacy coaching. The article also discusses funding through programs like Title I. Some of the funding comes from state programs, which are specific to California.
