Flaherty. J. (2005). Coaching: Evoking excellence in others. Boston, MA: Elsevier.

Author: Flaherty, J.

This is a deeper, theoretic book about coaching that can be applied to many fields. The book links coaching to its bases in adult learning, human development, language theory, and psychology. It offers thinking about such areas as the relationship of a coach to a client, openings for coaching, assessment of immediate needs versus more long term goals, the client's enrollment in a commitment to make needed changes, methods for coaching conversations, and techniques for getting unstuck. At the end of each chapter is a wide array of suggested readings. Many serious gurus of coaching recommend this book.
